Members of the RZIM global team share words of remembrance in honor of the late evangelist Billy Graham (1918 – 2018). To hear a tribute from Ravi Zacharias on Rev. Graham’s life and legacy, click here.
Krish Dhanam (Adjunct): A ministry of consistency and a mission of constancy are what I think of when I remember the life, legacy, and impact of Billy Graham.
Stuart McAllister (US): When I first was called to mission almost 40 years ago now, a tape of Billy speaking on commitment lit a fire in my heart. I have never heard better and never looked back. Thank you, Billy.
Sanj Kalra (US):
“I have one message: that Jesus Christ came, he died on a cross, he rose again, and he asked us to repent of our sins and receive him by faith as Lord and Savior, and if we do, we have forgiveness of all of our sins.”- Billy Graham
Now he sees Him face to face…. glory! A dear friend of mine got saved at a Billy Graham Crusade in Cleveland, Ohio.
Alycia Wood (US): What a day of rejoicing it must be for Billy Graham – finally with his Lord. I can only imagine the “Well done, good and faithful servant!” welcoming that he heard.
Vince Vitale (US, Zacharias Institute): Thank you, Billy Graham, for not just doing evangelism, but for living a life that was a constant and compelling invitation to trust Jesus. I am eager to meet you one day!
Nathan Betts (US): The warmth, gentleness, humility, and boldness with which Billy Graham spoke were qualities that I found remarkably compelling. Speaking on Christ, I remember Mr. Graham consistently asking audiences, “Do you know Him?” I can still picture him asking that question to stadium crowds as if he were speaking directly to me. His steadfast faith is what has challenged me, shaped me, and inspired me the most. He really believed what he preached!
Max Jeganathan (Asia-Pacific): Astounding integrity, world-changing authority, astonishing impact, and a life that honored God to its final breath; all fueled by the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
Charles Joseph (India): You fought well
You finished well,
You will forever be: Billy the Faithful!
A rare Paul to a million Timothys.
Margaret Manning Shull (Adjunct): I had the privilege of having lunch with Billy Graham in Scotland after I graduated from college. He treated me as if he had known me all my life, asking me questions and wanting to know me. I felt valued and seen by someone who had dined with world leaders. Graham will be missed by countless individuals and especially by those who were able to know him personally.
Amy Orr-Ewing (EMEA): I first heard Billy Graham speak when I was a 13-year-old visiting a communist country. Graham spoke in a football station at the first public evangelistic outreach in living memory there. I was moved to see crowds flooding forward to receive Christ. I saw Jesus glorified through the preaching of this humble faithful servant.
Michael Ramsden (EMEA): A remarkable man with a remarkable impact, all because of the remarkable impact left on him by God.
Dan Paterson (Asia-Pacific):
“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead—don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God” – Billy Graham
Enter into the joy of the Lord, Billy. You served the Master faithfully and for that we are profoundly thankful for your example. Now you join the great cloud of witnesses stirring us to keep and share the faith. You were a man for your time. Your voice will be missed.
Jordan Thyer (Asia-Pacific): My grandad came to know Christ after hearing Billy Graham proclaim the gospel. Thankful for his faithfulness and ministry.
Abdu Murray (US and Canada): Congratulations Billy Graham on a long life, well-lived for the glory of God. Even more congratulations on receiving your reward, seeing the Lord you faithfully served face to face. Can’t wait to meet you.
Shawn Hart (US, Zacharias Institute): When I was in the fifth grade, I remember a classmate’s family taking me to a stadium full of people to listen to Billy Graham. Although it was many years before I devoted my life to following Jesus Christ, there is no doubt that this event has always stood out to me as an act of love from my neighbor and from Billy Graham.
Sam Allberry (Europe): It is hard to grasp the significance of how God has used this servant. I am thankful that Billy can now see with his eyes the Savior he so faithfully proclaimed with his lips.
Michael Suderman (US, Latin America): Billy Graham preached – with simplicity and clarity – the most life-transforming message in history. Few have exemplified so well Paul’s writing in Romans, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.” Billy Graham believed in the truth and power of his message and inspired many, including me, to trust not in our preaching but the power of the gospel.
Michelle Tepper (US, Latin America): I am so thankful for the eternal impact Billy Graham made to the family of God both far and near. It was at one of his crusades that my late mother-in-law was awakened to the reality of the gospel. How fitting that she would be able to welcome Rev. Graham into heaven, on the date of her birthday.
