University Missions: A Call to Prayer
Posted by Logan Gates on January 11, 2018
Topic: University Missions
In his New Testament letter James reminds us, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). By “righteous person” James means, in the words of the British evangelist Michael Green, “the person made righteous by Christ.” James is saying the prayers of every Christian actually make a difference — they are “powerful and effective.”
Will you join us in praying for our upcoming university missions at the University of Toronto, Queens University, McGill University and the University of Alberta?
Please pray for our speakers as they deliver talks and minister to students, that the Gospel would be communicated in a way that is clear, winsome, and compelling and that the Holy Spirit would “teach [them] what to say” (Luke 12:12).
2. Pray for Christian Students
Please pray for courage for Christian students to invite their friends and classmates to events and to “cast their nets into the deep” as they speak openly about their faith in Christ (Luke 5:4).
3. Pray for Unity
Please pray for unity in the Gospel among Christian groups on campus, that Christ would be reflected in their “love for one another” and genuine care for those whom they’re serving (John 13:35).
4. Pray for Protection
Please pray for protection and favour in the eyes of the university administration, that God would keep open a “door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3).
5. Pray for Students to Come to Christ
Please pray for rooms full of students hearing about Jesus for the first time, that “hearts would be flooded with light,” and that many would come to “know the hope to which God has called us” through repentance and faith in Christ (Ephesians 1:18).
